You Can Make a Difference​

At Camp Gifford, we create a safe environment where kids can play, laugh, and explore. We surround them with loving, caring adults who all share the love of Jesus. Being part of the team will undoubtedly grow you spiritually. In return, you are given the opportunity to introduce God's love and sacrifice to the youth of our community.

 

We are actively seeking people who want to make a difference, love the outdoors and have a desire to walk as a disciple. Every summer , hundreds of kids come to Camp Gifford, many from broken homes and under served neighborhoods - all looking for a place to explore God's creation, and feel safe and loved.

Start dates for most of our staff will be June 15th. 2026, for Staff Training and Orientation. All Program Team positions start June 8th, as well as all staff for our Wilderness Team.

Discovery Camp Counselor (18+)
As a camp counselor, you don't just lead a group of children for the week, you encourage your campers to try new things, expand their skills and knowledge, and provide your campers with a week of lifechanging experiences. Together with your cabin group, you will embark on a journey of self discovery, exploration, and spiritual growth, making lasting memories along the way.

Wilderness Camp Counselor (18+)
As a wilderness camp counselor, you spend the summer in the heart of the wilderness, sharing in the adventure of the outdoors with your campers along the way. Wilderness camp counselors should have a love for the outdoors - as you'll be outside almost the whole summer, and a love of sharing the gospel with your teen campers. You'll have the opportunity to pour into the lives of your campers, all while hiking, kayaking, and flying through the air on our challenge course.

Sailing Camp Counselor (18+)
Sailing camp counselors enjoy all the ministry opportunities of Wilderness camp, but a significant portion of your program takes place on a sailboat! Sailing camp counselors assist in the day-to-day sailing camp operations, including meal times, chapel times, and active instruction on the sail boats.

Discovery Camp Program Director (21+)
As our Discovery Camp Program Director, you are responsible for ensuring the day-to-day programs go off without a hitch. In addition to planning and prepping for program activities, you provide critical support to the rest of the staff throughout the summer. This position is the main program leader for our summer staff, and should have an abundance of ideas and creativity for problem solving. 

Christian Education Director and SALT Coordinator (21+)
This duel role at Camp Gifford covers two very critical areas - coordination of our SALT members, taking on the responsibility for shepherding their spiritual growth and leadership training, and the planning of chapel devotions, cabin devotionss for counselors, and campfire devotions. You are the main point for all things Christian Education, and you should have a strong desire to evangelize and teach children about the love of Jesus.

Lead Male or Female Counselor (21+)
Each team of counselors needs a fearless leader - and that's you! Our lead counselors are the leadership of our counseling teams. Lead counselors take on the role of equipping our counselors for their important positions during orientation week, and are the first point of contact for providing support during the summer. Lead counselors should be confident in behavior management, and have the ability to find creative solutions to any problem counselors might have with their campers during the summer. 

Wilderness Camp Director (21+)
Our teen camp sits about a fifteen minute walk away from main camp, tucked into the forest. As Wilderness Camp Director you will be in charge of the entire teen program - from coordinating chapels and campfires, to encouraging your campers to try new things and branch out of their comfort zone. You'll spend the summer in the woods leading your campers to Christ all the while exploring the great outdoors. Wilderness Director requires a love of camping, hiking, and backpacking, as the program is designed to be as close to tent camping as possible - but don't worry - you've got your own rustic cabin right in the heart of the wilderness campsite.

Craft Director (18+)
Camp crafts are a huge part of a camper's time at camp. As the craft director, you are passionate about creativity and have a strong foundation in the arts, as well as a desire to share the love of creativity with children. You'll be responsible for planning themed crafts for the summer, as well as leading arts and crafts electives, and helping to share the love of creativity with the kids. 

Target and Sports Director (18+)
Our target and sports director is responsible for all things archery (instructor certification required) and sports. You are responsible for planning and executing campwide games, sports and outdoor activities, as well as archery lessons for both Discovery and Wilderness campers. 

Lifeguard (18+)
Lifeguards provide critical supervision over our lakefront swimming. Certified lifeguards will be responsible for ensuring our campers are safe in the water, as well as provide program support when swim times are not in session. Waterfront Certification is required in addition to a lifeguard ceritfication.

Camp Health Manager (21+, RN preferred)
Our campers safety and wellbeing is out first priority, and as the Camp Health Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring our campers stay healthy during their time at camp. In addition to medication distribution and management, you will be responsible for responding to all first aid and health needs of our campers and staff. This vital role requires additional certifications and experience.

service and hospitality:

First Cook (21+ preferred)
As first cook, you have the most responsibility in the kitchen to ensure our delicious meals are prepped and ready to serve on time. You will lead the kitchen and dining hall staff, ensuring all health department standards are met, and USDA meal pattern requirement and procedures are followed. Food service experience is preferred, ideally with large volume cooking and supervision of staff. Food handler's card required.

Second and Third Cook (18+)
Our second and third cooks work with the first cook to ensure food is ready to serve on time. Second and third cooks are responsible for a variety of food service tasks including, food prep, food service, and making sure the kitchen and dining hall are spic and span. Food handler's card required.

Dining Hall Supervisor (18+)
Our dining hall supervisor is in charge of all things dining hall - making sure tables are set and ready to go before meal times begin, as well as after meal clean up. Our dining hall supervisor is the main point of contact for making sure our dining hall is clean, tidy, and ready to go for meals. 

Wilderness Logistics (18+)
Even hikers have to eat right?! As wilderness logistics, your main role will be to prepare meals for our teen camp, but you'll also serve as an assistant to the Wilderness Camp Director. In addition to following menu and meal pattern requirements, you'll be in charge of record keeping, and assisting counselors and the Wilderness Director in day--today activities. 

Housekeeper (18+)
Camp Gifford has a lot going on during the summer, and our housekeeping staff work to ensure everything is clean and tidy. Your role as the housekeeper is to provide camp staff with support during end of camp clean ups, but you'll also be responsible for ensuring rental homes are turned over between guests. You're one of the only summer staff with access to a golf cart - use it wisely!

Under 18:

SALT Staff (14-17) Salvation Army Leadership Training
Our SALT Program is designed for teens aged 14-17 that are actively engaged in their church and have a desire to spend a summer in discipleship at Camp Gifford. You'll have time set aside each day for bible study, and discussion as a group, but you'll also provide hands-on support to the camp program in a variety of ways. Each week, you'll rotate through the program areas, spending time working with the kitchen staff, assisting the program team, or as a cabin helper where you'll be partnered with a counselor and assist in counseling with a cabin group.
